I'll do what I always do in cases like this. Hold off until they agree on a single standard or at least until all the players (not just the high end ones) on the market will do either format.

After that whole x2 / Flex thing you'd think they'd have learned.

I don't wait.

I just hold off until I actually need to replace old crap.

I suppose I'll be in a decision-bind if my DVD player dies before a standard is set.

I buy curmudgeon-style...

"What the heck do I need more buttons for...?!"

I'm waiting for the next generation which will put HD DVD and Blu-ray to shame.

I'm waiting until there's only one format, and the player is $50

*ding**ding**ding**ding*

Billy said the secret word "curmudgeon"! yaaaaayyy!!

Yes well I was assuming I would have need to replace my current DVD player which, truthfully, doesn't get used all that often.

I have a very short attention span when it comes to sitting in one place staring at a glowing box so even though there are movies I SHOULD see and in theory WANT to see I just can't make myself sit long enough to actually DO it.

My cats are often far more entertaining than the televison but on the other hand you don't have to "explain" to a TV why playing with a black widow is a very bad idea.

Actually, though, I PREFER the units that have a lot of buttons on them. I don't want a unit that becomes a paper weight until I can find the goddamn remote again.

Blockbuster has chosen Blu-ray.

I have to think that's a pretty big blow to HD DVD. I don't like Blockbuster, but they've got plenty of power still.

Will HD-DVD try and make a deal with Netflix?

That would certainly be a good strategy to pursue.

Funny how history repeats itself. There was a huge Betamax vs. VHS fight when those came out.

I agree though, I won't buy either for a while, until the price comes down.
(I am still a teenager, unfortunately, so I have to live off of my allowance...)
