This laptop features Intel’s latest Core i5-430M processor. The Core i5 features dual cores capable of four processing threads.  It is a 64-bit processor that comes with 3 MB of L3 cache, runs at 2.26 GHz (up to 2.533 GHz with Intel TurboBoost) and built on a 32 nm die.  That means lower power, and less heat, which is ideal for a laptop.  The system comes with the Mobile Intel HM55 Express Chipset. The laptop comes with 4GB of DDR3 RAM with a maximum capacity of 8GB.

The display is a 15.6″ HD Widescreen Acer CineCrystal™ LCD display with a resolution of 1366 x 768.  This is a 16:9 aspect ratio which is good for watching widescreen movies.  Driving the display is the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 GPU this is a DirectX 11 class video card.  The card packs 400 shader processors, 20 TMUs, and 8 ROPs, which give it a lot of power for a 1366×768 screen.

For storage you get a 500GB Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive rotating at 5400 RPM.  This is a large hard drive that should have enough space for the large music or movie collection you want to store.  The optical drive is an 8x SuperMulti DVD±R/RW drive can also write to CD, DVD-RAM, and dual-layer (DL) DVD±R discs–which can hold up to 8.5 GB of data. You also get a 5-in-1 card reader for optional MultiMediaCard™, Secure Digital, Memory Stick®, Memory Stick PRO™ or xD-Picture Card™.

For networking you get an integrated Atheros AR5B93 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi adapter for connection to your wireless network. For wired networking you can use the integrated 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet port (RJ-45). This system also comes with a 56K modem.  Other ports include an HDMI port for connecting to your HDTV, a VGA port for connecting an analog monitor, 4 high-speed USB 2.0 ports, 1 headphone out, and 1 microphone in jack.

The laptop also comes with a Crystal Eye webcam  which supports Acer PrimaLite technology, which consists of a premium sensor, firmware and lenses to provide superior video performance under low-light conditions. A built-in digital microphone helps keep background noise levels low and minimizes echoes for clear video chatting.

The hard drive comes installed with Microsoft Windows Home Premium 64-bit.  Other software includes McAfee Internet Security Suite (trial version); NTI Media Maker; Google Toolbar; Acer Recovery Management; Acer GridVista; Microsoft Works; Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 Trial (60 days); Norton Online Backup; MyWinLocker.

The laptop measures 15.1 x 9.9 x 1.5 inches and weighs 6.2 pounds.  You can get up to 3 hours of unplugged power from the 6-cell (4400 mAh) Lithium ion battery pack.
