This MacBook Pro model features the Intel Core i5  (model 520M). This processor runs at 2.4GHz  up to 2.93 GHz with Turbo Boost Technology).  The 520M is a 64-bit dual-core processor with 4 processing threads and 3  3 MB of L3 cache. It was built using a 32 nm process for higher efficiency.  The cores are based on the Nehalem microarchitecture, and is a good processor for multi-tasking on laptops. It comes with 4GB (two 2GB SO-DIMMs) of 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM and supports up to 8GB.

The screen is a 15.4 (diagonal) LED-backlit glossy widescreen display with a max resolution of  1440×900. The screen is driven by the NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M and Intel® HD graphics.  The laptop automatically switches between the display cards to optimize performance and battery life.  The GeForce 330M card has 256MB of GDDR3 RAM dedicated to video processing.

For storage you get a 320GB Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive (5400 rpm). This is a good sized drive that should be able to handle all that media you download from iTunes.  The optical drive is a slot-loading multiformat DVD±RW/CD-RW SuperDrive with double-layer support.  It supports (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW).  The media reader supports Secure Digital media cards for transferring your digital photos or other data to and from your laptop.

For networking you get the standard wired/wireless combo on most laptops. The wired option is a 10/100/1000BASE-T (Gigabit) Ethernet (RJ-45) port.  The wireless option is a AirPort Extreme Wi-Fi (based on IEEE 802.11n specification). This laptop also comes with Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) wireless technology.

External ports include Mini DisplayPort output port with support for DVI, VGA, dual-link DVI, and HDMI (requires adapters, sold separately), 1 FireWire 800 port (up to 800 Mbps), 1 headphone/line-in port and 2 high-speed USB 2.0 ports. This MacBook also features the built-in iSight webcam and omnidirectional microphone for video chatting with friends and family.

Other features include the full-size backlit keyboard with 78 (U.S.) or 79 (ISO) keys, including 12 function keys and 4 arrow keys (inverted “T” arrangement) and the Multi-Touch trackpad for precise cursor control; supports inertial scrolling, pinch, rotate, swipe, three-finger swipe, four-finger swipe, tap, double-tap, and drag capabilities.

For software you get Apple’s Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard preinstalled on the hard drive.  Other software includes iTunes, Time Machine, Spotlight, Quick Look, Spaces, Dashboard, Mail, iChat, Safari, Photo Book, Address Book, QuickTime, iCal, DVD Player, Front Row, Xcode and iLife (iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, iWeb, GarageBand).

The system measures 9.8″ x 14.4″ x 1″ and weighs 5.6  pounds.  It comes with a built-in 77.5-watt-hour lithium-polymer battery which can provide up to 8-9 hours of unplugged power.  When you need to plug in you can use the 85W MagSafe power adapter.
