The Asus K52F-BBR5 laptop features an Intel Pentium processor, a 15.6″ display and Microsoft Windows 7.
The CPU powering this laptop is the Intel Pentium P6100. This is a dual-core processor built on Intel’s Westmere microarchitecture. It has 3MB of L3 cache and each one runs at 2GHz. This CPU is built using a 32nm process and only uses 35W. This laptop comes with 3GB DDR3 memory and can be expanded to a maximum of 8GB. That’s plenty of memory for multi-tasking apps.
The screen is a 15.6″ LED-backlit high-definition widescreen display with a resolution of 1366×768. It’s powered by the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD, which uses shared video memory (up to 1756MB allocated from the system memory). The card supports Microsoft DirectX 10 for gaming though with shared memory you probably won’t get great performance on the latest ones.
For storage you get a 320GB Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive rotating at 5400RPM. Plenty big enough for the files you want to store on it, unless you’re an avid movie downloader. The optical drive is a multiformat DVD±RW/CD-RW drive with double-layer support. Oh, and the digital media reader supports Secure Digital, MultiMedia Card, Memory Stick, and Memory Stick PRO formats.
For networking you get a 10/100/1000 Mbps Fast Ethernet LAN adapter for your wired networking needs. You can get to this through the RJ-45 port. For wireless you can use the built-in 802.11 b/g/n wireless LAN adapter.
External ports include 3 high-speed USB 2.0 ports, 1 VGA port, 1 HDMI port, 1 headphone, and 1 microphone. You also get a built-in .3 MP webcam and microphone for video chatting, or you can use it with the included facial recognition software for better security.
This system comes installed with Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit Edition. Other software includes Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash, MediaShow Expresso and PowerDirector 7. Microsoft Office 2010 Starter also included (product key card required for activation; sold separately).
The laptop measures 10″x15″x1.4″ and weighs 5.7 pounds. The 6-cell Lithium ion battery pack can provide up to 4 hours and 21 minutes of unplugged power.
You can find the Asus K52F-BBR9 laptop for around $450.
