This laptop use the Intel Celeron 900 processor which has 1 MB L2 cache, an 800 MHz front-side bus, and runs at 2.2 GHz. This is not the processor you want for high-end gaming, but it will be fine for most applications.  As part of the processor the video is powered by the Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M.  The video can use up to 797MB of shared memory for video processing.

The display is a 15.6″ high-definition widescreen display with BrightView technology and 1366 x 768 resolution for viewing your DVD movies in widescreen without any of those annoying black bars across the top and bottom of the picture.

You can play those movies on this laptop’s multiformat DVD±RW/CD-RW drive with double-layer support. It can record up to 8.5GB of data or 4 hours of video using compatible DVD+R DL and DVD-R DL media.  Of course, it also works with CDs.

The other drive on this Presario is a 250 GB (7200 RPM) Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive. This offer plenty of space and speed for all your music, movies, games and apps.  Software installed on that hard drive includes  64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium Edition, ith Microsoft Works, Adobe Reader, Cyberlink DVD Suite and more. A 60-day trial version of Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student Edition is also included.

External ports include 3 high-speed USB 2.0 ports for connecting all your peripherals, an RJ-45 Ethernet port for your 10/100 cabled connection, 56KB modem connection, a headphone jack, a microphone jack, and an analog VGA connector for external monitor.

For input, the system sports a 101-key compatible with full-size keyboard with integrated numeric keypad and a Touch Pad with On/Off button and dedicated vertical scroll Up/Down pad.

Wireless Internet can be had with the built-in high-speed wireless LAN (802.11b/g/n).  The 802.11 n specifications allows for greater distance and speed with a wireless-n capable router.

The 6-cell battery pack powers this laptop for around 3 hours and 45 minutes.  When you’re plugged in with the 65W adapter, you’re not using much juice with this Energy Star qualified laptop.

It’s a bit hefty at 6.6 lbs, but pretty thin at 1.7″.

The Compaq Presario CQ60-615DX laptop with Intel Celeron processor can be found for around $350.
