The Intel Core i7 CPU which powers this desktop features 4 processing cores and 8 threads.  It comes with 8 MB of L2 cache, runs at a max speed of 3.46 GHz (2.8 GHz base) and is built on a 45 nm die process.  This CPU is 64-bit and can support up to 16 GB of RAM. This system only comes with 8 GB of DDR3 RAM, but that’s plenty for all your multi-tasking needs.

For video, this Dell Studio XPS comes with an ATI Radeon HD5770 graphics card with 1 GB of memory and support for 7.1 audio.  The card supports DirectX 11 and OpenGL 3.2 standards to play all the latest games.   It can support resolutions up to 2560×1600.

A 1 TB Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive  gives you all the room you’ll need for digital pictures, movies, games, apps and more.  The 7200 RPM performance means your applications will load quickly and smoothly. The optical drive on this desktop is a Multiformat DVD±RW/CD-RW drive with double-layer support which records up to 8.5GB of data or 4 hours of video using compatible DVD+R DL and DVD-R DL media.

Don’t have a wired network in your home? No problem, this desktop comes with a Built-in Dell 1505 wireless LAN PCI-E card and 802.11n mini card (802.11b/g/n). Pair that with an 802.11 b/g/n router and you’ll have speed wireless performance.  If wireless isn’t your thing, then you can connect a standard Ethernet cable to the built-in 10/100/1000 Ethernet LAN. This also has a 56K modem, but a system with this power deserves a fast connection.

Other external ports include an IEEE 1394 port and 8 high-speed USB 2.0 ports for fast transfers from all your peripherals. To those USB ports you can connect the USB consumer multimedia keyboard and Dell laser mouse that come with the system. Headphone and microphone jacks are accessible on the front side of the computer. Internally the motherboard has 3 open PCI slots. External there is an open 3.5″ bay for a peripheral.

For software, this Dell comes installed with Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64-bit, Microsoft Works and more.

You will need to add speakers and a display to this desktop, as they are not included.
