The processing power in this Dell XPS system is provided by the Intel Core i7-740QM processor. This is a quad-core processor with 8 operating threads. Each core runs at 1.73 GHz but can rev up to 2.93 GHz with Intel’s Turbo Boost Technology. This is a 64-bit processor with 6MB of Intel SmartCache. It’s built on a 45nm die and uses 45W.
