Gateway Laptop with Intel Core i3 Processor This Gateway features the all new 2010 Intel Core i3 processor with 2 cores, 4 threads and 3 MB of L2 cache on board.  The CPU also features Intel’s HD graphics which provides superb visual performance and built-in support for Windows 7.  The CPU runs at 2.13 GHz and has a 1066 MHz front side bus.

The laptop also features 4 GB fast DDR3 memory for supporting multiple applications running at the same time. A 320 GB (5400 RPM) Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive is big enough to handle your pictures, movies and music. Speaking of big this laptop sports a 15.6″ LED backlit LCD display with Ultrabright technology and 1366×768 resolution.  This display is great for playing movies with all the clarity they deserve.

For movies, this system comes with a Blu-Ray enabled DVD+-RW/CD-RW drive with support for the next-generation Blu-Ray discs (BD-ROM, BD-R, and BD-RE) as well as double-layer DVDs.

To output those movies the computer comes with Intel HD graphics with 128 MB dedicated video memory. It supports Microsoft Direct X 10 and support for HD audio.  If the screen on this system isn’t big enough you can connect this system to your HDTV via the HDMI port.  Sometimes you don’t want to crowd around a laptop to watch a movie.

The multi-card reader slot supports Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO and xD-Picture Card formats. This makes downloading your pictures from your digital camera and other digital media a snap.  If you need to connect USB devices this laptop comes equipped with 4 high-speed USB 2.0 ports.

And for even higher-speed connections use the 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN port (RJ45) or slow things down with the built-in 56K modem. If you had wires, then use the 802.11 b/g/n wireless adapter that’s built into the system for high-speed transfers without those pesky cables.

This computer is only 1.5″ thick and weighs in at 5.8 pounds making it highly portable which is what you want in a laptop computer.

For software you get Windows 7 Home Premium Edition (64-bit), Adobe Reader, Microsoft Works and a 60-day trial of the Home and Student Edition of Microsoft Office which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote.  This system has more than enough power to run all those programs and more.

The built-in webcam and microphone makes video chat with friends and family through Skype or other programs simple.  This system also meets strict EnergyStar requirements.

You can find this well-rated laptop for about $500.
