The Intel inside is the Pentium (Model: T4500) processor.  This is one of Intel’s older dual-core processors, as it was released almost 2 years ago.  This is a 64-bit, dual-core processor running at 2.3GHz.  It has an 800MHz front-side bus and 1MB of L2 cache.  The laptop comes with 4GB of DDR3 memory and can be expanded to a maximum of 4GB.

The screen is a 15.6″ diagonal LED-backlit high-definition display with Ultrabright technology, 1366 x 768 resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio.  The display is driven by the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M, which uses shared video memory (up to 1759MB allocated from the system memory). The card supports Microsoft DirectX 10 for gaming though with shared memory you probably won’t get great performance on the latest ones.

For storage there’s a 500GB Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive. That’s the standard for laptops these days, and should be enough space for most people.  The optical drive is a multiformat DVD±RW/CD-RW drive with double-layer support.  The multi-in-1 digital media reader
supports Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO and xD-Picture Card formats.

For wired web connections you get a 10/100 Ethernet LAN adapter for surfing with wires. For wireless you get the standard 802.11 b/g/n adapter, so you can walk around with your laptop in your hands and still be on the web.

Other features include a MyBackup function key to perform backups with one key press  and a webcam and microphone for easy video chatting. External ports include 3 high-speed USB 2.0 ports, 1 VGA port for connecting an external monitor, 1 headphone out and 1 microphone in. This laptop does NOT come with an HDMI port connection.

This Gateway comes installed with Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64-bit for the operating system.  Other software includes CyberLink PowerDVD, Adobe Reader and more. Microsoft Office 2010 Starter also included (product key card required for activation; sold separately).

The laptop measures 9.6″x14.5″x1.5″ and weighs 6 pounds.  It comes with a 6-cell Lithium-Ion battery pack and an AC power adapter.

You can find the Gateway NV4402u laptop for around $530.
