The AMD Phenom II processor (model N830)  is triple-core processor running at 2.1 GHz.  That’s 3 processing cores people.  This CPU has 1.5 MB of L2 cache and runs at 35W.  This processor compares favorably with an Intel Core i3.  It also has VisionTechnology from AMD. This system comes with 4GB of DDR3 memory and can be expanded to a maximum of 8GB.

The screen is a 17.3″ diagonal High Definition+ HP BrightView LED Display with a resolution of 1600×900.  Easy to calculate that it’s got a 16:9 aspect ratio. The screen is driven by the AMD M880G Chipset with ATI Mobility RadeonTM HD 4250 graphics with 256MB-1917MB dynamically allocated shared graphics memory.

For storage you get a 500GB Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive rotating at 7200RPM. A good size hard drive for all your digital pictures, music and more.  The optical drive is a LightScribe Blu-ray ROM with SuperMulti DVD±R/RW double layer support. That means high-def BluRay movies on this large screen laptop. The 5-in-1 media reader supports Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO and xD-Picture Card formats.

For networking you can use the built-in 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN adapter with a RJ-45 connector.  The wireless option is the built-in wireless LAN (802.11a/b/g/n) adapter. This laptop does not have Bluetooth support or a 56K modem. Other ports include 3 high-speed USB 2.0 ports, 1 USB 2.0/eSATA shared port, 1 HDMI ports, 1 VGA port, 1 headphone and 1 microphone jack. For speakers you get the Beats™ Audio and HP Triple Bass Reflex Subwoofer and Altec Lansing speakers.

Other features include a built-in fingerprint reader, a built-in HP TrueVision webcam and digital microphone for video chatting and a brushed aluminum finish.

The laptop measures 16.35″ (W) x 10.8″ (D) x 1.25″ (min H)/1.46″ (max H) and weighs in at 8.19 lbs.  This is no portable that you want to be carrying around from place to place.  It’s more of a desktop replacement. It does come with a 9-Cell 93WHr Lithium-Ion battery if you do want to run unplugged, but it also has a 65W AC power adapter.
