This laptop is powered by the Intel Core i5-460M CPU. This  is a dual-core, 64-bit processor with 4 processing threads.  The cores operating at 2.53GHz normally, but can be boosted up to 2.8GHz with TurboBoost technology.  It has 3MB of L3 cache and uses 35W.  The laptop comes with 6GB of 1066 MHz DDR3 SDRAM and can be expanded to a maximum of 8GB. That’s plenty of memory for all of your multitasking needs. It uses the Mobile Intel HM55 Express Chipset.

The screen is a 17.3″ LED high-definition display with BrightView technology and 1600 x 900 resolution.  That’s a 16:9 aspect ratio and it gives the laptop native support for 720p HD content. The screen is driven by the AMD Radeon HD 6370 graphics chip.  This is an entry-level graphics chip, that can play some games on low-detail, but forget about the latest games on high-detail.  This chip comes with 1GB of dedicated video memory and supports DirectX 11 and Shader 5.0.

For storage you get a 640GB Serial ATA hard drive rotating at 5400RPM. That’s a big drive that will hold all your music, apps, games and more.  The optical drive is a multiformat DVD±RW/CD-RW drive with double-layer support.  The 5-in-1 digital media reader supports Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO and xD-Picture Card formats.

For networking you get a 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN adapter accessible through a standard RJ-45 connector. For wireless you have two options.  You can use the built-in dual-band wireless LAN compatible with 802.11 a/b/g/n.  Alternatively, you can use the embedded 4G WiMAX mobile broadband modem to give you a truly mobile 4G connection.  This requires an extra data plan from a wireless provider.

Other features include a built-in TrueVision webcam with digital microphone, a built-in fingerprint reader for added security and a brushed aluminum finish.  You also get Beats audio with triple base reflex subwoofer.  External ports include 4 high-speed USB 2.0 ports (1 is a shared USB/eSata port), 1HDMI port for connecting to your HDTV, 1 VGA port, 1 headphone out and 1 microphone in.

The laptop comes installed with Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Edition.   Other software includes Adobe Reader and more. Also features a 60-day trial version of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Office 2010 (product key card required for activation; sold separately).

The laptop measures 10.8″ x 16.4″ x 1.5″ and weighs 6.9 pounds.  The 9-cell Lithium Ion battery pack provides up to 4.5 hours of unplugged power.
