This laptop is powered by the Intel Core i5-460M CPU. This  is a dual-core, 64-bit processor with 4 processing threads.  The cores operating at 2.53GHz normally, but can be boosted up to 2.8GHz with TurboBoost technology.  It has 3MB of L3 cache and uses 35W.  The laptop comes with 4GB of 1066 MHz DDR3 SDRAM and can be expanded to a maximum of 8GB. That’s plenty of memory for all of your multitasking needs. It uses the Mobile Intel HM55 Express Chipset.

The screen is a 13.1″ LED-backlit LCD widescreen display with a resolution of 1600×900.  That’s going to give you a higher pixel density than most displays of this size which normally are at a 1366×768 resolution.  The screen is driven by the NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M with Intel HD graphics card.  The screen is driven by the NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M GPU.  The chip has 1GB of dedicated RAM for good video performance.  The GPU has 48  CUDA cores and can run at up to 1265 MHz. For networking you can use either the built-in 10Base-T/100Base-TX/1000Base-T Fast Ethernet LAN adapter for your speedy wired web connections.  For wireless the laptop has a built-in Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6200 wireless LAN  that supports 802.11a/b/g/n standards. It also comes with embedded mobile broadband technology, so you don’t always have to have a wifi hotspot on the go.  It does require a data contract with a wireless provider though.  This VAIO also supports Bluetooth interface (A2DP 2.1 + EDR), so you’ve got plenty of connectivity with this one.

Other features include a built-in Motion Eye webcam with a microphone and face-tracking technology so video chatting is made easy.  You also get a built-in fingerprint sensor for added laptop security.  You get action buttons like ASSIST, performance selection, wireless on/off and others.

External ports include 3 high-speed USB 2.0 ports, 1 ExpressCard/34 slot, 1 HDMI port for connecting to your HDTV, 1 VGA port for connecting an external monitor, 1 headphone and 1 microphone in.

This laptop comes installed with Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit Edition as the operating system.  Other software includes Norton Internet Security 2010 (30-day trial), VAIO Care, Sony PMB – VAIO Edition, Microsoft Office 2010 Starter, Vaio Media Gallery and more.

The laptop measures 8.3″x12.4″x1.3″ and weighs 3 pounds.  That’s light and small for excellent portability.  The standard capacity battery can provide up to 3.5 hours of unplugged power.
