This laptop is powered by the Intel Core i5-460M CPU. This  is a dual-core, 64-bit processor with 4 processing threads.  The cores operating at 2.53GHz normally, but can be boosted up to 2.8GHz with TurboBoost technology.  It has 3MB of L3 cache and uses 35W.  The laptop comes with 4GB of 1066 MHz DDR3 SDRAM and can be expanded to a maximum of 8GB. That’s plenty of memory for all of your multitasking needs. It uses the Mobile Intel HM55 Express Chipset.

The screen is a 16.0” diagonal widescreen TruBrite® TFT LCD display with a resolution of 1366×768.  The display has LED backlight for lower power consumption and native support for 720p content. The screen is driven by Intel HD graphics which features 64-1696MB dynamically allocated shared video memory. You probably wouldn’t want to play the latest games on this machine.

For storage you get a 500GB Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive rotating at 5400RPM.  That’s a half a terabyte of storage and should be plenty of space for all your music, movies, apps and more.  For an optical drive you get a Blu-ray Disc® ROM and DVD SuperMulti drive with Labelflash® supporting 12 formats.  You can use Labelflash media to burn high quality labels directly to disc.  The memory card reader supports Secure Digital, Secure Digital High Capacity, Memory Stick™, Memory Stick  PRO™, xD Picture Card, Mini SD Card, SDXC, and Multi Media Card formats.

For networking you get a 10/100 wired Ethernet LAN adapter, and a 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi wireless networking adapter. It’d be nice to have Gigabit on this laptop, but most likely you’ll be using the Wi-Fi anyway.  One thing you can use it for is to video chat with the built in webcam and microphone.

Other features on this Satellite include built-in Harman Kardon stereo speakers with Dolby Advanced Audio, TouchPad pointing device and a premium raised tile keyboard with numeric keypad. This laptop comes with a Fusion X2 Finish in charcoal black.

External ports include 1 RGB port for connecting an external monitor, 1 HDMI port for connecting to your HDTV, Microphone input with Toshiba Sleep and Music, headphone out, 1 ExpressCard slot, 4 USB v2.0 ports (3USB +1 eSATA/USB combo with USB sleep and charge), and the RJ-45 LAN port for your wired networking connection.  You also get a slot for a security lock.

This Toshiba comes loaded with Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Edition.  Other software includes Toshiba CrapWare, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Corel Label@Once, Google Toolbar, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer 8, Intervideo WinDVD BD, Microsoft Office Starter 2010, Microsoft Windows Media Player 12, Microsoft Silverlight, Microsoft Live Essential and Norton Internet Security 2011 trial.

The laptop measures 14.98″ x 10.0″ x 1.18″/1.48″ and weighs 6.5 lbs.  It comes with a 6 cell (48Wh) Lithium Ion battery pack with a battery life rating of 4 hours and 30 minutes.  You also get a 65W AC power adapter that weighs 0.55 lbs.
