The laptop is powered by the AMD Athlon II CPU (model: P320). That’s a 2.1GHz dual-core processor. This 64-bit CPI has 1MB of L2 cache and uses 25W. It comes with 4GB of DDR3 memory and can be expanded to a maximum of 8GB.

The screen is a 17.3” diagonal widescreen TruBrite® TFT LCD display with a resolution of 1600 x 900. I don’t need to mention that’s a 16:9 aspect ratio unless you’re really bad at math.  It’s got LED backlight for lower power consumption and native support for 720p content. The screen is driven by the AMD M880G Chipset with ATI Mobility RadeonTM HD 4250 graphics with 256MB-1405 MB dynamically allocated shared graphics memory. Shared memory means the system may slow down during graphically intense operations like games.

For storage space you get a 500GB Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive rotating at 5400RPM. A half a terabyte is a goodly amount of storage space to have. The optical drive is a Blu-ray Disc™ ROM and DVD SuperMulti drive with Labelflash®. If you’re desperate for storage space or to get your pictures of your digital camera, the media reader supports Secure Digital, Secure Digital High Capacity, Memory Stick™,  Memory Stick  PRO™, Multi Media Card (shared slot may require adapter for use)  formats.
Nothing special about the networking on this laptop.  It’s got an RJ-45 port which connects you to the internal 10/100 Ethernet adapter for wired access to the web.  The Wi-Fi networking comes in the form of an 802.11 b/g/n adapter.  This Satellite does not come with Bluetooth support or an antiquated modem.  One way to test out the networking would be to use the integrated webcam and microphone for some videochatting on Skype.
The color is a what Toshiba calls a Fusion Finish in Helios Black.  It’s got your standard US keyboard with numeric keybad and a TouchPad pointing device with multi-touch controls. External ports include an RGB monitor port, 1 microphone in, 1 headphone out, 2 USB v2.0 ports, 1 shared eSATA/USB combo, 1 HDMI port and a slot for a security lock.
The laptop measures 16.3″x10.6″x1.1″/1.49″ and weighs 6.6 lbs.  Not exactly something you want to lug around, but most likely you’d be getting this as a desktop replacement.  The 6 cell (48Wh) Lithium ion battery pack can provide up to 3.8 hours of battery life.  The included 65W autosensing AC adapter can provide power as long as you pay your electric bill.
This notebook comes installed with Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit edition.  Other software includes a whole bunch of crap from Toshiba that you’ll want to uninstall, and a couple of useful things like Microsoft Works 9, Acrobat Reader, Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 Edition (60-day Trial), Norton Internet Security (30-day subscription).  I was using the term “useful” liberally. You can find the Toshiba Satellite L675D-S7015 laptop for around $550.
