Results: 1 matches for your search: I went to see Iron Man yesterday with Mrs. BBspot. Since it was a "date," I didn't take my usual followup notes. I stand by my recommendation from the Trailer Review. My three-word review is "fun summer movie." It has the right pacing and the right mix of action and humor. If you haven't already seen it, you really should because there will be a quiz and cake. As for my "Ending Prognostication" which was: Iron Man wins. Chance of sequel 100%.I couldn't have been more accurate if I tried. Thanks to the Internet for letting me know to stay until the end of the credits. I was expecting something more exciting, but I'm glad I stayed (I'm not so sure Mrs. BBspot agrees though.) The trailer did give too much away with some of the best laugh scenes getting ruined (maybe ruined is too strong a word, but they were certainly diminished). I could tell because Mrs. BBspot, who didn't see any of the pre-hype, laughed a lot more at the funny points than the audience (including me) as a whole. I still remember going in cold to see Raiders of the Lost Ark. It was like Christmas morning when Santa roamed the skies. It's almost impossible now to see a movie like that. One thing I did wonder when leaving Iron Man was, if a sequel can live up to this one? The origin story added lots of depth and character, while a sequel will just be standard "good vs. evil" superhero plotline. With the ending and the box office returns, we'll definitely find out, but it has a high probability of being a disappointment. In non-Iron Man news, I recently replaced my iPod earbuds, and I was very happy with my choice. But, a wire is already loose in the new ones. Every time I move I lose sound in one of the ears (Notice how I used "loose" and "lose" correctly in one paragraph. I should receive some sort of Internet Grammar Award for that.) You'd think that problem would've been solved by now. Time to pick up some new ones. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. There are a couple good discussions going on in the BBoard. One explaining the differences between OSes and the continuing discussion on what constitutes a nerd, geek or dork. The BBspot BBoard is nice and friendly, free from trolls and flamewars, so come on over and join in. And finally, if you decide to not go see Iron Man, then you can use your $10 to preorder The BBook of Geek from Amazon. I have it on good authority that it's the only geek humor book you'll ever need*. *Unless of course it does well and they want me to write another BBook then you'll need that one, too. Maybe I should've put more thought into that tagline. Crap. That's all for today. Stay geeky! (One of these days I'm going to write up the reason for putting "Stay geeky!" at the end of my posts. Somebody remind me to do that.) Filed under Musings by Brian - Mon May 19, 2008 @ 11:45 AM (Permalink - Discuss) |
