Hours of Online Experience

By jackrabbit

I'm a big fan of the Rainbow Six games. I've played them all from the beginning of the series; even the forgettable ones like Covert Ops and Black Thorn. Black Thorn had the unique pleasure of coming out a week before the same publishers released Ghost Recon, and so me and like 3 other people bought both. Everyone else just got Ghost Recon.

The latest game, Raven Shield, has been... "troubled" by development issues. The game was playable from the box; none of the issues were game-breakers. But with every patch to fix minor issues, the developers would break other tiny things, requiring the need for yet another patch. The cycle went on to almost laughable lengths, so when the developer announced an expansion, Athena Sword, I figured they'd be able to address all their issues from Raven Shield and include them on the new game CD.   Well, I guess there were some bugs to be worked out with Athena Sword and it shipped 8 months later than it was supposed to. And wouldn't you know it... not only did you have to patch your original Raven Shield install to play the expansion... you also had to patch the expansion.

All things considered, though, the game expansion really is fun. It looks great and adds some great new maps. I really like it, and would be playing except I'm just finishing up the comic (20 minutes late, don't tell Brian!!).

See you next week!
