BBspot Mailbag

Now you too can enjoy my Inbox without the annoying spam. Every week I get some amazing e-mail. Some amazing because of the sheer cluelessness of the sender, some because of the time and energy that went into crafting them and some are just simply amazing.

BBelievers

I love it when an old story gets new life. A story I wrote in 2001 about Gates Proclaiming Linux the Best OS Ever got some new coverage over the weekend, and a few new BBelievers...

and Gates is a born again...and has seen the light.

And then there was this posting over at LinuxToday.com...

"At a hastily convened press conference Bill Gates announced that he personally thinks that 'Linux is the best OS ever.'

Hard to know if the author of that post knows it's a joke. I mean it's under their "infrastructure" topic heading. Next...

I really can't believe it, 1 in April it is not but still it sounds like a to good to be true joke.

Looks like someone tried to add a quote from this story to Wikiquote...

http://bbspot.com/News/2001/06/gates.html may i add it?

I have no idea what this person is talking about, but I have a feeling she thinks the Geek Horoscopes might be real...

We posted a list of the 33 Versions of Windows Vista being released. Apparently this caused a bit of hand wringing at one company...

Hi, this is an oldie but a good one.

We were reading your post about Windows Vista and 32(was it?) versions to be released. The QA guy in our company didn't get the joke and started sending emails to CTO, and upper management about delaying the release of multi-million dollar brand new product (5 years in the making) by a year in order to accommodate the new testing task... Firestorm broke out, and everyone was embarrassed to finally find out it was a joke. To this day we are not allowed to speak of the incident :)

Sent from a payphone on the corner of Grand & Clark.

I suppose that guy probably isn't a big fan of BBspot now, but I'm a big fan of him.

Weekly Limerick

The winner of the 2003 and 2006 Geek Limerick contest has volunteered to write a weekly limerick for BBspot. Seth also has a new book out that you should take a look at..

From: Seth

Docs who told children Prozac was best
May have been biased; who would have guessed?
Though when bribes docs receive
Are so high, we'd believe
It helps keep them from being depressed.
